Many would ponder why on earth you would want to visit Death Valley in August. At the time of writing, Death Valley holds the record for the world’s highest recorded temperature, so the prospect of visiting in the height of summer may strike some as odd, and others as downright mad. In the summer of 2017, a total solar eclipse came to America for the first time in 38 years. We had only moved to the States in January that year and knew that this was an opportunity not to be missed. We were excited not just for the eclipse itself but also for the opportunity to explore a bit more of our new home country.
